NBAA-BACE 2018: A Glimpse into the Future of Business Aviation with Terrafugia

When you’re at the forefront of emerging new technology that involves multiple industries (aviation, automotive, eVTOL, etc.), it can be hard to decide what trade show will be the right fit. A couple weeks ago, Terrafugia decided to test the waters by attending NBAA-BACE in Orlando, FL for the first time. We showcased our flying car and eVTOL concept and as it turns out, NBAA-BACE was a great fit where we were well received by the industry.

Terrafugia had a strong presence throughout the Orange County Convention Center from October 16th to October 18th with an eye-catching booth that made it impossible to miss the giant new “Flying T” logo. The booth focused on TF-2, a 3-part transportation system. Visitors of the booth were able to see a hologram, a scale model and a video of the revolutionary travel system of the future. We had some great conversations with partners and were able to engage with aviation companies across the supply chain.

In addition to our main booth, a prototype of the Transition, a street-legal flying car received significant attention drawing crowds to the indoor static display area. The prototype, featured at the show, retired from flying earlier this year with over 200 test flight hours. It was great to see the reaction of attendees who have followed Terrafugia over the years, and it is a treat to watch those who have heard of the Transition, but never saw it in person, and those who were learning about it for the first time.

Lastly, we were fortunate to join a panel of experts that discussed “Imagining the Future of Pilotless VTOL Aircraft”. Our CTO and Co-Founder, Carl Dietrich, participated as a panelist bringing insights into this trending topic. The discussion had full attendance and Dietrich focused on a potential approach that simplifies vehicle operation technologies by first focusing on automating certain piloted aircraft processes.

TF-2, Transition and our position on a panel helped tie in the launch of our refreshed brand, which was publicly released at NBAA. We showcased our latest logo and branding efforts showcasing Terrafugia as a company at the forefront of eVTOL and innovation in aviation. NBAA-BACE proved to be a successful platform for us to showcase all of the different aspects of Terrafugia.

The Terrafugia team would like to thank NBAA for hosting this event. We had substantial visibility and success meeting with potential partners, suppliers and regulators in the industry. We enjoyed talking with everyone who stopped by our booth and engaging with industry leaders. See you at NBAA 2019!
